Buddy Story Swap
It all started yesterday when the kids from school were talking about the abandoned house on the hill and how it's haunted. I didn't know weather to believe them or not, so I went to see for myself. I decided to have a look inside. I slowly creeped through the front door. I had feeling something was behind me so I turned around. The door came swing shut just missing my face. Dust flew everywhere which ended me up coughing in disgust. I was really scared of what could happen next, so I tried to look for light or a switch but there was no power. It got colder as took each step. Finding an exit wasn’t as easy as I thought because of all the darkness. I tried to find a way to the the exit but then I saw two red dots staring at me, I went to see what is was. As I got closer, it seemed to get bigger. The hairs on my arms and neck stood up...All of a sudden the red dots went away and the door opened. I ran out thinking of never going back.
Today we learnt a new task that helps us to write good recounts. The task was that each person in the pair take turns writing something that is continuing that last persons sentence. I worked with Sebastian. We were given a picture that we had to write a recount about in 15 minutes.

Grid Challenge
Today for math we played a game that involves times table and measurement. My partner was Sebastian and we were challenging each other to try fill in our side first. The person with the less spare squares is the winner. This game practice for times tables and measurement skills. It was very challenging and you'll have to think a lot about where you are putting your boxes.

Problem solving revision: Week 1
We were practicing our problem solving today. The question we had to solve was 'Sajiha read a book with 6003 words in it in 4 weeks. In the first week she read 653 words. In the second week she read 497 words and in the third week she read 1183 words. How many more words did she read in week 4?'. To solve this I subtracted 653, 497, 1183 from 6003. With a lot of thinking and subtracting, I found out the answer was 3670.

Paying it forward at home
Last night I had to pay it forward. To pay it forward I helped my mum by opening the door and also helped with the shopping. She felt proud because sometimes I never help with the shopping. When I finished helping with the shopping I felt proud of myself because I had done something to help my mum.

Using direct speech
“Hey do you think NZ schools should provide breakfast for their students?” asked June.
"Yeah I do because it will help kids with their learning," replied Dontalian.
"Yeah that was what I was thinking. Also it could keep them motivated and help them have a healthy mind," stated June.
"I know because a lot of children have been not focusing on their learning"responded Dontalian.
"Yeah but what if schools have no money to provide the breakfast?Don't you think that will cause a problem?"questioned June.
"True," replied Dontalian.
Today I learnt to put speech marks in my writing to show that someone is speaking. I used the conversation I had with June on ifake text to get my sentences.
